Film: 16mm 1990

Wax is as mesmerising as it is eerie.... 23 people at Arnold's Circus are moved around an old bandstand, a lead object is constructed by the alchemist, skulls, a weathered gravestone, a heart in a hand, are timeless fixtures amongst death, amongst the magic, the life. wax.... We see an iron embed materials, objects and sentiments, (dead insects, photographs, threads and memories), death and life in a waxing book. This film hopes to reflect something of the changing situations that we all live/have lived in and have little control over. Sections covering changing friends, emotions, places, customs, rituals - but perhaps not ... perhaps I will be thrown in a bog.... - P.R.
