True Love

by Dunford, Mike

Film: 16mm 1972

This time the imagery was of a deliberately evocative subject, nakedness and the colour and texture of skin in a movement from darkness to lightness. The editing format was a strict coded structure designed to counter the residual eroticism of the imagery. Part of the material was re-filmed adding a further level of distantiation and reflexivity, and throwing attention onto the materiality of the image construct, so that the film becomes a work concerned with the cinematic construct, with the image as a base for the study of the film as a material construction, and viewer participation.
