In this the notion of the image as a bare support for the construction of the film as a work on film and the cinematic construct, is extended using the image of a surfer, isolated and fragmented almost to abstraction. A surfer, filmed, shown on T.V, refilmed on 8 mm, and refilmed again on 16 mm, is permuted through a simple loop structure. The movement of the surfer is frozen into a fragment of repeated time, the image into a pointillistic spray of shadow. The aim of structuralist materialist film presented here most tellingly.
