While mixing photographic and computer generated images (printed directly onto 35mm film) and interspersing them with live action, Scrutiny questions the accepted 'nature of things' - birth, sex, marriage, death and DIY. The rapid fire, black and white animation, fidgeting on the film's surface, challenges us to make sense of familiarity. Depicted is a journey that begins in a bleak coastal landscape and ends amidst the seemingly chaotic life of the city. The journey can read as a personal one, describing a passage from birth to adulthood and explores the decisions that are faced in-between and the communication needed to make them.
