Hill, Tony

Tony Hill was born in 1946. Initially trained as an architect, his work has been preoccupied with the interaction of the film camera’s monocular viewpoint and the space through which it moves. His ingenious camera-mounts enable complex and seem¬ingly impossible movements to occur, often producing a vertiginous experience in the viewer. His work has been shown at many art galleries, international film festivals, and in cinema programmes, and has been broadcast on television and published on videotape. He has won festival awards at Melbourne, Hamburg, Chicago, and Châteauroux, and won the Deutscher Videokunstpreis in 1993. He is currently teaching at Plymouth College of Art & Design.
